Swimming club is an exercise and social club that will promote becoming and sustaining a healthy lifestyle as a WSU student. The club will consist of two, one hour scheduled lap swimming sessions a week. There will be social gatherings throughout the semester to promote the club and to get to know fellow members outside of the pool. This is not considered a competitive club but we will be contacting different schools around the state to have small competitions and to have a chance to meet new people. There will be experienced swimmers coming from triathlon participants, lifeguards, to competitive swimmers that will be in the pool for guidance and to help people of all skill levels to become better swimmers. Finally this is just one more thing to put on your resume for being involved with a campus organization.
We are planning on calling up a few schools around here like La Crosse, Madison, Duluth and St. Cloud to have small competitions and to meet new people. There is no correlation between these school having swimming clubs and being the biggest party schools in the state other than the best, WSU. One idea is to have one big trip a year out of state. This would be a more official competition for the better swimmers in the club looking for some competition and for a road trip.
This club is very easy to join all you need to do is show up. We can talk at our first meeting the rules for being in the club but right now it is that you need to attend 2 events each month, and one must consist of being in the pool. We don't want it to be a hassle to be in this club but we do expect you to participate and swimming once a month is good for ya anyways.
If you have any questions or concerns about the club feel free to email Jordan (President) or Chris (Vice President) or you can find us on facebook. We encourage newcomers to the club so if you miss the first two weeks just start showing up and well introduce you to the group just let someone know you are interested in joining and they'll point you in the right direction.
